Mentor. Travel. Service.

Mentor. A mentorship is when one more experienced, knowledgeable person guides a less experienced, knowledgeable person. In our case, we flip this idea on its head, wherein ideas formulated through dialogue is transferred between both the teacher and the student. That is, we all learn from each other.

Mentorships are not straightforward or necessarily easy. They require honesty, openness, and curiosity. All parties involved must build a trusting relationship, and a space, where it is alright to get vulnerable. Judgement is out the door.

This is our model. Everyone learns from everyone. Everyone's opinion and experience is a valuable part of the program. Honesty is fundamental. We dig into who we are at our core, our greatest challenges, and most lofty aspirations. Then we make a plan.

We were fortunate enough to have Daniela, from our 2016 Student Fellowship, come visit our Portland cohort last Saturday, imparting her knowledge and taking in the knowledge of our 2017 Student Fellows. This is a program that continues to give back.
