New Year’s Intentions

2020 has just begun, and perhaps many of you are creating resolutions and intentions for the year to come.

This year we are celebrating 5 years of mentorship, sending students on volunteer service trips, and helping them engage with their communities. So what's next?

We reaffirm our commitment to work to create a more equitable world for our youth, rooted in cultural integrity, and led by the next generation of social activists.

In the spirit of New Year's Resolutions, what will 2020 look like for Global Works Community Fund? Here's where we plan to focus our efforts:

1) Thoughtfully growing the foundation of our organization, and making sure our programs are sustainable for years to come. That means investing in staff through training and  professional mentorship, and capitalizing on the strengths of our board members and volunteers to propel us forward.

2) Continuing our work in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion across all facets of our work. From further training for GWCF staff, board and trip leaders, to working to deepen the diversity of our students, staff and board. We recognize that by intentionally keeping this at the front of our minds we will look back and be proud of the direction our organization has taken.

3) Expanding our programming to offer our alumni opportunities for mentorship and employment, valuing their perspective and expertise.

I am proud of the past 5 years of incredible students we've seen come through our doors, but we know that our work can reach so many more.

I hope we will continue to stand together to keep the momentum going. Our youth and communities depend on it.

In solidarity,
Mark
